| The Conservatives: The Quebec Sovereignists' best new friend |
[Dec. 20th, 2005|12:20 am] |
"Conservative Leader Stephen Harper is promising more funding and autonomy for Quebec, saying his government would allow the province to play a greater international role in culture and language." - Source: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation; Article - "Harper promises Quebec greater role in international affairs".
This is the opening paragraph of the article that I read on the CBC's website today for the Federal Election Campaign. I do not support the continuation of giving Quebec more autonomy to seperate from the Canadian Federation. I believe in a united, strong Canada - a reason why, others including myself will be voting for the Liberal Party of Canada. I am disguisted that Harper is not living up to his party's campaign slogan "Stand up for Canada!"
Why, am I against Quebec Sovereignism? Because I'm a federalist. I believe in a Strong, United Canada. If you want to appease to this people, I suggest that you vote for the Conservative Party of Canada because it is a vote for the Bloc du Quebecois! Do you want to stand up for Canada? Vote Liberal.

I am now the Youth Chair for Brenda Lockes' Campaign in Fleetwood-Port Kells... just getting the word out of the latest stupidity of the Conservative Candidate.
Globe and Mail Grewal ready to run on her own By GARY MASON
Saturday, December 17, 2005 Page A12
SURREY, B.C. -- It's Nina Grewal, like you've never seen her before.
"I was quite a good athlete in school," says Ms. Grewal, sitting behind a large mahogany desk in her Surrey constituency office. "I played all sports. I could do cartwheels, handstands, you name it. Would you like to see?"
Are you kidding? Of course I would. Ms. Grewal gets up, finds an open bit of carpet and, within seconds, is standing on her head.
And talking at the same time.
"Is this a good handstand?" asks Ms. Grewal, the Conservative MP who is seeking re-election in the riding of Fleetwood-Port Kells. "What do you think, Gary? Can you believe this?" Ah, frankly, no.
Nor can I believe the woman I've just spent an hour talking to is the same one constantly depicted in the media as the mindless, deferring puppet of her man, Gurmant, the other half of the first husband-and-wife team to sit in the House of Commons simultaneously.
Gurmant, of course, is the one who got caught up in a bizarre taping scandal last year, which ended up hurting him far more than the Liberals he said he was trying to entrap. When the tapes were later ruled to have been altered, it was Mr. Grewal who took the fall.
When he announced that he was not seeking re-election as the Conservative MP for Newton-North Delta because he didn't want to be a distraction to his party, it left many to wonder -- how would Nina survive in Ottawa without him? "I will be just fine," she says, leaning forward on her desk. "It is too bad what happened to Gurmant. But as you know, whistle-blowers are always punished, never rewarded. So my husband had to pay the price because he blew the whistle and it's not easy blowing the whistle on the government."
For the record, Ms. Grewal says she didn't know her husband was going to tape conversations with a key Liberal strategist as well as Health Minister Ujjal Dosanjh. When Gurmant later told Nina he had evidence of the Liberals trying to entice the couple with plum posts if they crossed the floor, she thought it would be bad news for the government.
Ms. Grewal is well aware that her opponents will try to use the taping scandal against her in this campaign. Particularly Liberal candidate Brenda Locke, a former B.C. cabinet minister, who has a lead over Ms. Grewal, according to recent polling. So, what will Nina do when Ms. Locke raises the matter?
"If she's going to bring it up she's going to be smacked," Ms. Grewal says. "She's going to be smacked. She's going to be smacked and well, I've got all sorts of things on her from her time in government [provincially] and I'll bring that up." Smacked? Smacked? Well, we'll all want to be there for that.
There's little doubt Ms. Grewal would rather she not have this issue to deal with in a race as close as hers. There have been many times, I'm sure, when she's wanted to "smack" her husband for coming up with such a stupid idea in the first place.
"Of course there have been times," she says. "Of course. But what's gone is gone, Gary. Let's look at the future. You can't keep repenting what's happened in the past."
If my interview with Ms. Grewal is any indication, it would appear she is determined to remake the image many have of her as the dutiful wife who rarely utters a word unless it is first stamped for approval by her husband. As well, she intends to correct the perception that she's been a useless MP who never has a thing to say in the House.
"First," she says, "people have various ideas that Gurmant always walks in front of me, issuing this instruction to me and that instruction. They don't know that I'm my own person, my own independent person with my own independent thoughts, views and responsibilities. I don't want to be overshadowed by my husband. I'm not a person like that.
"And I also want you to know that in the one and a half years I was in Parliament I'm very proud of my record. Go to http://www.howdtheyvote.ca, and you'll see they rank the MPs based on how much they said and did in the House of Commons. I'm really proud to say that I'm ranked 114 out of 308 MPs. And I've spoken more than 25 cabinet ministers."
As is the case in most ridings, the campaign in Fleetwood-Port Kells is not yet in full swing. After Christmas is when you can expect tight races like this one to take on a different hue and tone. Given the potential material Liberals have to work with, things could get a little nasty. When her husband decided not to run again, Ms. Grewal said she was sad, but not for a second did she consider not running herself.
"Why should I?" she says. "Gurmant was an MP for a long time before I ran for politics. He was away in Ottawa while I was home. Now he can do what I was doing for awhile. I'm Nina Grewal. I'm my own person."
And one who will stand on her head for constituents.

I have not been feeling my best one hundred percent for the past several of days since I have come down with this thing called the common cold? Yes, another victim of a cold that mankind has not came to find a cure for yet. Why? Because its probably impossible to cure the 'common cold' because there are so many strains of it that it'd take several of decades to centuries to figure to fight all of them, eventually there will be a new one. Gah! The Common Cold will kill you!
Yes, I went to work and spreaded my germs all over... I am... a bio weapon... *shifty eyes*
Anyways... I got a dvd rom in my computer now, so thats sweet... now I can make sceen shots of my favourite scenes in family guy and other such shows... |

My first week of work has been completed, and I feel emotionally and physically a lot better then I did back three weeks a go. As most of you know, doing completely next to nothing but going on the computer each day playing Xbox is a disappointment of what your goals were before you graduated from High School. That is where I was at, now since I am bringing in the 'dough', I can eventually go to college for what I really want to do - study Political Science and History. |

Today has to be one of the better days for work. Why? A lot of the driving consisted more locally then driving all the way deeply in downtown Vancouver like the other day and today, no, I did not lock my keys in my car. So I am overall glad. Because locking your keys in your car, stinks.
It appears that Same-Sex Marriage will be passed since the Conservative Party is really the only party, including Chuck Cadman opposing it. One Conservative MP will be voting for this bill - Belinda Stronach. In my opinion she is really the only beautifulest female Member of Parliament... all the others are hidious.
Well that is all for now! |

I hope some of you may have had a good day of opening the second month of the year, 2005? I had a somewhat good day, the only thing that made my day bad was locking my keys in my car when I was dropping stuff off from picking the stuff up from the different clinics. I thought, I may of grabbed them. Thankfully for Patrick having BCAA (Patrick makes the denchures) had BCAA membership, so he called them to fix my little problem for me.
That is really the only 'high light' of my day, so I'll post again tomorrow. |

[Jan. 31st, 2005|08:35 pm] |
The first day of work (well actually the first day of starting on the pay rooll) has been completed. I left home around five after seven and got there at a quarter to eight. So I was a little bit early as I waited for someone to show up who worked at the lab to open the door for me to go in. A lady who worked at the clinic in the same building let me in, which was nice.
There was a bit of a hassle for my first pick up - since the previous driver was suppose to be a passenger to make sure I know where I was going to the proper destinations. It came to one destination where I spent the majority of the morning hours in finding it. I hardly know a lot of Vancouver and Richmond which are the two major cities where I do a majority of my deliveries and pick ups. I went onto Marine Drive from the Arthur Laingy (sp?) Bridge (which is the major connector from Vancouver to the International Airport). However, giving up because I could not find the right street (Main St.).
I went in the opposite direction because I thought I may of missed it. It turned out, I didnt miss it, I was going the wrong way the second time. Yes, I am a friggin stubborn individual when it comes to my sense of direction. I eventually found the place around eleven o'clock. I was not happy, though most jobs like this can be stressful, so I'll get use to getting lost and finding my way to the place where I should be. |

[Jan. 30th, 2005|05:29 pm] |
It appears that I have had a quasi-busy weekend. This Friday, I just stayed at home and hardly did anything besides sitting at my laptop pondering the meaning of life the truth is, the meaning of the life is clear write under our nostrils, but we can't grasp it for some reason - it is due to our human nature to be exact.
Besides pondering of things on Friday. Saturday, my dad and me cleaned my car, a 1988 Pontiac Sunfire Standard Edition. We also went to take it to air care and passed by flying colours - the car has been parked on the driveway for over a year, my dad and I thought the car would fail. However, she passed. Then after that, I drove her out to Chilliwack since I had a birthday to go to, my friend Dougs. Good friend, enjoyed his companionship and as well his other friends. We went out for dinner to Boston Pizza, I had Beef Dip and we went to go see Hide and Seek. Good movie, won't say anything about it. Since it was around past 11 at night, I decided to spend the night at Dougs since my mother specifically told me she didnt want me to driving after midnight... well because at midnight, I turn into a raged werewolf... just kidding...
Today, my friend Kiel came over, played Halo 2. My dad and I went to the insurance place to insure it. So now, I'm happy that I got a car and can use it. Well I officially start work tomorrow and I'm looking forward to it! |

[Jan. 28th, 2005|06:54 pm] |
One full week of being showed the routes to start my job is completed and I officially starting this upcoming Monday, which I am currently pumped for and looking forward to, and it'll bring in good income so I can start going to school maybe next fall, well hopefully that after all is the plan. If I make even more money before Kyle Darvasi comes back, I'll make a trip to Europe and see the many sights. Also go to Nuremberg, Auschwitz, and Normandy - since after all history is another great interest of mine.
As some of you know, there has been a changing in the political thought drive of this young Canadian voter. I no longer support the Conservative Party since the Canadian Alliance takeover after the merger - we all knew this was going to happen, after all the Conservative Party did elect Stephen Harper as their leader with a large lead over Peter MacKay and Belinda Stronach.
I know aside with the Martin Liberals. No, I am not a 'flaming' liberal, or an advocate of same-sex marriage, there are plenty a lot of members of the Federal Liberal Party who are on the right side of things. However, I do cross the line where people start calling homosexuals retarded that have them realize that they have to reject who they are as human beings. With the Christian Right calling homosexuals that they are inferior beings as heterosexual beings who are all superhuman, is ridiculus.
I draw the line there. I believe that marriage is a religious institution, however I do believe that gay and lesbian people are allowed to have the same rights and dub it civil unions, they can call it marriage if they want. Of course this is what Stephen Harper is aiming for and try and get a non-withstanding clause, but no one will support Harper's Rightwing Party in Parliament on this.
Mister Stephen Harper says he is the best option for the Canadian people since he'll heavily fund the Canadian Forces, change certain rules that will keep the Canadian people happy, such as immigration laws and the same issue as I have dicussed with you just now. Harper is a bad choice because Canada is highly known not to be militaristic at the same time our pride and love for our country are high, we are just not charismatic about it as the Americans - which is not a problem. |

I know, I know, I have been to lazy to post new content on my Live Journal for quite a long period of time. On the other hand, I thought I'd let all of you know that I am still alive and well. A few unexpected things happened in the last two weeks - I got a job and it seems quite promising. Got a job with one of my best friend's fathers since he needed a delivery person for his buisness.
So I wake up every morning at a quarter so six to get ready and then around a quarter to seven or later I start to drive into Richmond. Kyle's dad is the boss of a place that makes denchures, crowns false, false teeth and other sort that thing that relates to dentistry. I just drop off/pick up the stuff at nearby Dental Clinics, as well every tuesday and thursday, I travel out to Chilliwack and Langley.
So right now, everything for me is doing good, later. |

| | Switchfoot - Amy's Song | ] | I haven't had the best couple of weeks with a few things joggling in my mind, it like I have came to another cross road of life, where I have to make an important decision of what to do with my life. As a few and not all who read my Live Journal, I am unemployed and not currently going to university/college. The few of many things that are currently important are; my post secondary education & getting employment. Then if I feel like it, I'll post more thoughts as I go through, then probably explain what I have been doing since my last entry.
University/College.
This is probably the number one thing that is currently going through my state of mind, wandering what I should do. I do not have a lot of money, and wiry of taking out a student government loan to pay for my post-secondary education. I have came disgruntled over my financial needs to go to college, yes I have heard the, "go get a job" comment plentiful amount of times and know so, but I have been trying to get a job but being unsuccessful.
My dream is one day become Prime Minister of Canada, as most of all my high school friends, and fellow graduates know that my strong passion is politics. However, as a student I made a few mistakes and choices.
Firstly, I did not have the will power to work hard in English 12, and getting a fifty-eight percent, Kwantlen's acceptance into the University English level for first year is sixty percent. As well, Mrs Williams and Mr. Smith gave me the advice to take Accounting 11, which again was a bad mistake to have it take credit for my Math credits for graduation.
I shouldn't of taken Accounting 11 and gone through with taking Math 11 which, would of been the better choice, but since I was easily persuaded to take something much easier, I am in this terrible mess I am now.
Though, I can take the equivalent of English 12 and Math 11 at Kwantlen in their continuing education program but again that takes money. Juliet Killick has suggested many times in good faith to take out a student loan and go for it, but there is that sense of uncertainty. Though this idea is probably number one on my list to succeed in what I want to do with my life.
On the other hand, I have been looking else where like going to the Art Institute in Vancouver and taking Interactive Media Design, or Acting, or Digital Film & Television but haven't came to a decision. I am going to downtown Vancouver later today when I wake up to speak with the Director of Student Administration, so hopefully things go well with that.
Employment.
I may or may not be trying really hard to get a job somewhere to start building up my financial needs to go to College/University, or go traveling to europe to visit Kyle in Switzerland and visiting people in the United Kingdom and maybe even going back to Taiwan.
I have applied at many places, and to list them; Starbuck, Blockbuster, Rogers Video, McDonalds, EB Games, Coast Capital, Red Robins, Macs, Subway, Dollar Giant, & Black Bond.
Well, I guess I'll continue to keep looking.... and thats all I am going to write more when I get home from that interview, so talk to you all later. |

| | Lone Star - Mr. Mom | ] | I thought maybe it was about time that I update my live journal since last time I was ranting about the materialized secular Christmas that the day of our Lord Jesus Christ's birth has become. Though, that has been said and, well I do not want to be the 'Scrooge' or the 'Grinch' until the day actually happens and where I yell my voice at other individuals who I dont know the names of.
What have I been doing over the last couple of days since my last update, nothing much really but since I am probably on the same boat as Candice if I do not make updating my live journal, I'll grow tardy and never post. Then I'll have the angry Panzer, Matt Mittlestadt telling me, "You have a dull life. Tell me about it. Nothing interesting?"
Nah, Matt's not like that. He doesnt have his teeth and venom glands grown in yet. So, pitty old me is safe for a bit hopefully.
Well here is the iternary of Thursday. I woke up at ten in the morning, like most days since high school has ended for me and since I have nothing better to do but sleep, watch Family Guy, play Xbox and type meaningless things about me on the internet. Yeah, I have the best life. Why? Because I'm Anth the Mutant. The ATM as Matt, Dave G and Scott sometimes refer me as.
Then after waking up, I quickly watched one of my favourite television shows that my mother had taped for me the night before, The West Wing. It is getting disappointing, though one of my favourite comedians are know on the show and he is serious, Alan Alda. Apparently in his personal life he thought of running for Political Office but didnt go through with it, now he is doing it on the telly!
Since I really didn't get to watch the last couple of minutes of my show, because my Uncle wanted me to go out to the Hardware store to get some supplies for his next house work project, though he talked me into buying me lunch and a slurpee, so if you think about it. I was getting repaid back for nothing inparticular of giving him my enabled strong arms and shoulders to carry all of his supplies.
Drove out to North Vancouver with him because he had to pick something at Grouse Mountain (he works there part time as a Ski Patroller) for something, next week hopefully he promised me to get me my very own toque! After that our journey was over, took me home. Where I quickly went to go pick up my brother and sister from school and visiting the Administration of the school, just to say hey because the teachers were in classes.
Then went home and watched the rest of my show. I get my paycheck later today! |

| | Alice Cooper - Schools out for summer | ] | Decemeber is no longer just around the corner, it is here. Meaning the materialistic, secular Christmas holiday is coming. I say this frankly because its the truth, non-believers may no the main reason why Christian's celebrate Christmas, the day the Lord Jesus Christ was born. However, I reject this secular materialism of my saviour's date of birth. Though, I also understand why the day is about giving; because God did something amazing by giving us His Son.

Though originally I thought I'd be working eight hour shifts each day. However it turned out not to be so.
Hopefully Manpower doesn't deduct a lot of the money I earned, I'll tell them that they don't need to since I am not going to make over six thousand dollars until January.
Anyways, that is all for now. I am just glad that I do not need to look at numbers for hopefully a long time. |

[Dec. 1st, 2004|12:33 am] |
It has been a few days since I last updated my web log and I could have for the past couple of days in between sleeping and going to work. I was working Saturday, Monday, Tuesday and tomorrow at Coast Capital's Head Office in Surrey by Famous Players' Silver City in Guildford from 4:30 PM to 11:00 PM. I received this work through the temporary work placement company called Manpower and get paid ten dollars an hour.
This is what work consists of organizing folders by their numerical number by sequence and placing them in piles until that section is done. Today we finished the 1092's. Now this work may seem to be easy to sum, but it really isn't, well minus the paper cuts. The job is getting easier and I couldn't see myself doing that for a permanent job.

| | Lighthouse Family - It's a Beautiful Day | ] | I thought I would update my online journal/blog once more, since right now I am not up to anything in particular and posting on here gives me something to do during my time on the computer. If you look at it from a broad perspective, I spend a lot of time behind my laptop's monitor.
I have been having a hard time remembering where my journal/blog is now located and mistakenly saying, "have you read my xanga yet?". I have to refresh my mind and say blog or web journal.
This morning I was woke up when my mom told me that Man Power was on the phone. So I took the phone from her and talked to them, saying they have work for me in Surrey, so I graciously accepted. I work four days, tomorrow, monday, tuesday and wednesday. I get paid ten dollars an hour, each day I work seven hours, so seventy dollars a day. After it'll be 240 but I do not know what it'll be cut down after all the taxes. Hopefully I'll still have a lot. I plan to buy my brother's X-mas gift, then the 12 month subscription package for Xbox Live. |

Alright this is better... it has spell checker!
Now the question is what have I been up too? Nothing really, not in school, being bored, you know the usual stuff of being lazy. The story of my life, really.
Something quite interesting happened politically at the beginning of this month that the lower jaw of my mouth is reaching the floor. President George W. Bush won the popular vote for Presidency by quite a large margin and also won the most electoral votes. I find it quite shocking and amusing that he ACTUALLY won this election. I send my complete condolences to the American people, hey, 51 percent of you voted him into power so you have to deal with it.
Speaking of politics I have started up a political subjective message board a few weeks ago since I haven't seen many of them. For those who are politically inclined like me, you may find it interesting - http://politics.theanthzone.com! Well I hope you check it out. I plan to make a website element of the site for people to post their polisci papers or their deep political insight of how Communism and Socialism is evil(!)
Please note I said that sarcastically, those who are Communists or Socialist, I don't know what I could say, maybe something pleasant among these lines, sorry for being inconsistent?
Well that is all for now... peace! |
